Especially Cakes was started in 1997 by mother-daughter team, Sheila Maxwell and Sunday Nowell. By chance, this mother and daughter decided to enroll in culinary classes together just to spend time with one another. Before long, their quality family time launched into a full scale business taking on a life of it's own.
Especially Cakes found it's niche in 1999 when it began providing catering services to busy restaurants, cafes and weddings. Especially Cakes won it's first restaurant contract after the Executive Chef tasted their Carrot Cake. Especially Cakes' Sweet Potato Pie has been featured in local newspapers in San Diego. Now that Sheila has retired, Sunday continues the Especially Cakes legacy with her husband, Darrius.
Sunday started training as a baker in 1997. After completing the advanced courses in cake design, she started selling her unique creations.
Sunday has airbrushing experience and has earned several competitive awards for cake quality, design and taste.
Some of Sunday's one-of-a-kind creations include her Unforgettable Bacon Maple, CPR (Chocolate Peanut Butter Rescue) Cake, Spectrum Torte, Chocolate Tuxedo which features three different types of chocolate, the seasonal Triple Berry Torte and her Chocolate Kahlua Cake.
